Yeghes Da
A hand crafted Cornish driftwood sign with the caption "Yeghes Da!", which has been pyrographed at a high temperature to burn the hand drawn lettering on to the driftwwod. "Yeghes Da!" means "Cheers" in the Cornish language. I draw the lettering by hand in pencil and when happy with the format, it is then vectorised in Adobe Illustrator after being scanned.
The driftwood sign comes complete with brass eyelets and a white macramé rope tied at both ends a half hitch knot so the sign can be hung from anywhere! The driftwood featured in this product was found on Praa (pronounced 'Pray') beach near Penzance in South West Cornwall, wedged between rocks following a storm. The wood itself has been bleached in a large bleachibg tank for two days. The wood is then rinsed and then left to dry naturally before being slightly sanded to avoid injury from splinters or rough edges. Two coats of exterior varnish are then applied should the sign is to be hung or displayed outdoors.
