Whale of a time
A small hand crafted Cornish driftwood sign naturally formed in the shape of a blue whale with the caption "We're having a Whale of a time!". This an informal phrase for folk that are enjoying themselves very much. The sign is omplete with brass eyelet hangers and a macramé rope tied at both ends with half hitch knots.
I have drawn the lettering by hand first using a 2B pencil to create unique flourishes and when I am happy with the design, it is then tidied and then re-traced and vectorised in Adobe Illustrator. The driftwood sign comes complete with brass eyelets and a white macramé rope tied at both ends a half hitch knot so the sign can be hung from anywhere! The driftwood featured in this product was found on the beach near at Poldhu Cove on The Lizard Peninsula near Mullion Cove in South West Cornwall, amongst seaweed washed up on the shoreline. The wood itself has been bleached in a large bleaching tank for two days. It is then rinsed and left to dry naturally before being slightly sanded to avoid injury from splinters or rough edges. Two coats of exterior varnish are then applied should the sign be hung or displayed outdoors if required.
