Take me to the sea

Small pieces of hand crafted Cornish driftwood, from locally sourced beaches and harbours in South West Cornwall with the inscription 'Take me to the sea'. The lettering has been pyrographed directly on to the wood at high temperature and then a coat of linseed oil or exterior varnish is applied. Some come with a small piece of macramé rope along the top along with small shells, toy boats or nautical devices.

All the driftwood has been bleached in a large bleaching tank for two days. It is then rinsed and left to dry naturally before applying varnish to seal the fibres of the wood. I like to present the driftwood pieces as naturally is possible, so I only sand the shape to eliminate any sharp edges and drilling a small recess before applying the magnet to the reverse.
