Take me to the sea
Various hand crafted Cornish driftwood signs with the caption "Take me to the sea" and from locally sourced driftwwod washed up on the shoreline at various beaches and harbours in South West Cornwall. The sign itself has been pyrographed at a high temperature to burn the hand drawn lettering on to the timber.
The lettering featured in this sign is drawn by hand using a 2B pencil to create cursive flourishes and shapes, rather than standard ised fonts and when I am happy with the design, it is then refined, scanned and then re-traced and vectorised in Adobe Illustrator. The driftwood sign comes complete with brass eyelets and a white macramé rope tied at both ends a half hitch knot, sometimes with whipping applied on boths ends to prevent fraying, so the sign can be hung from anywhere! The wood itself has been bleached in a large bleaching tank for two days. It is then rinsed and left to dry naturally before being slightly sanded to eliminate splinters, old nail heads or rough edges. Two coats of exterior varnish are then applied should the sign so the sign can be hung or displayed outdoors if required.
All sizes, weights and shipping costs are approximate and dependent on the driftwood available at the time. Please call 07905 377416 or email me at: guy.dwelly@btinternet.com for further details.
