Hand crafted Cornish driftwood trees, made from randomly sourced pieces of driftwood found on local beaches and harbours in South West Cornwall. All my driftwood trees are unique and come in a variety of sizes and shapes but are generally no higher than 45cm and they all have a rustic, gentle naturistic feel. I like to use imaginitive objects for the tops of the trees and often use corks from Champagene, Prosecco or Gin bottles and I have my neighbours collecting them on my behalf for when they have a party, family get-together, or celebration! All the driftwood has been bleached in a large bleaching tank for two days. It is then rinsed and left to dry naturally before being slightly sanded eliminate any rough edges. I tend to keep the sanding and smoothing to a minimum to keep the trees as natural as possible.

I remember completing my first driftwood tree for my sister-in-law in 2014 while on holiday in Coverack before I was a Cornish resident and it still adorns her garden to this day!

I like to eperiment with the bases and have used birch logs which have come from decaying trees, or any other suitable fallen debris from local forests. My favourite componet bases however are the blocks from old sea crates, especially when they have been at sea for a while. They often carry a stencil branding which adds to the look and feel of a tree from the sea. Some are round which makes the appearmce even more interesting! Exterior varnish or linseed oil is applied and I sometimes add other remnants from the sea such as shells, rope or toy starfish to complete the project.

They are the ultimate sea decoration for any living room or garden and are the ideal and unique gift for family members, loved ones or friends!
