Life's better at the beach
A hand crafted Cornish driftwood sign with the caption "Life's better at the Beach", This irregular shaped timber sign comes complete with brass eyelet hangers and a macramé rope tied at both ends with half hitch knots.
I draw all my lettering by hand first using a 2B pencil to create unique characters and when I am happy with the design, it is then refined, scanned and then re-traced and vectorised in Adobe Illustrator. The phrase has been pyrographed at a high temperature to burn the hand drawn script on to the timber and the driftwood featured in this product was found on the beach near at Poldhu Cove on The Lizard Peninsula near Mullion Cove in South West Cornwall, amongst seaweed and debris washed up on the shoreline. The wood itself has been bleached in a large bleaching tank for two days. It is then rinsed and left to dry naturally before being slightly sanded to avoid injury from splinters or rough edges. Two coats of exterior varnish are then applied should the sign be hung or displayed outdoors if required.
