Life's better at the beach
A hand crafted Cornish driftwood sign with the caption "Life's better at the beach" from locally sourced driftwwod washed up on the shoreline at Hendra Beach, near Praa Sands in South West Cornwall. The sign itself has been pyrographed at a high temperature to burn the hand drawn lettering on to the timber.
The lettering featured in this sign is drawn by hand using a 2B pencil to create cursive flourishes and shapes, rather than standard ised fonts and when I am happy with the design, it is then frefined, scanned and then re-traced and vectorised in Adobe Illustrator.
The driftwood sign comes complete with brass eyelets and a white macramé rope tied at both ends a half hitch knot, with whipping applied on boths ends to prevent fraying, so the sign can be hung from anywhere! The wood itself has been bleached in a large bleachibg tank for two days. It is then rinsed and left to dry naturally before being slightly sanded to eleminate any rough edges, old nail heads or splinetrs.
Two coats of exterior varnish are then applied should the sign so the sign can be hung or displayed outdoors if required.
All sizes, weights and shipping costs are approximate and dependent on the driftwood available at the time. Please call 07905 377416 or email me at: guy.dwelly@btinternet.com for further details.
